In Memory Of Blondell Perkins (née Lasley)
Mom was everything you would expect a mother to be. She was kind, stern, generous, loving, protective, strong, and always, always there whenever you needed her. She sacraficed so much of her own wants and needs for her children. She loved us more than anything in this world, and we loved her right back! She was beautiful inside and out - it's funny because she was very vain about her appearance, but never liked taking pictures!

Mom was an angel on earth. She helped so many people in their time of need, always offering whatever she had to make someonelse whole. She took in other children when their families needed healing, even with seven children of her own. I believe that each of us at some point in our childhood, had a friend who needed some place to stay for a short time until their home lives became better; Mom never refused us, she might say a few choice words (ha,ha) but the final answer was always "okay, just for a couple of weeks." Her loving spirit could never turn anyone away.

Mom instilled in us the importance of treating everyone with respect, no matter who they were or how they were living. She would say "treat everyone with respect, and if you come across someone in need, find a way to help because there are angels all around testing your heart; you never know when or where you will be tested." I can recall time when she and I were walking down the street and came across a homeless person who asked for money. Mom reached into her purse and produced some change for the old lady then we walked away. Seconds (and I mean SECONDS) later I turned to look back and the lady was gone! I said to mom "where did she go that fast??" Mom just smiled and said "maybe she was an angel...see, we did the right thing."
