Cathleen Ellen (Center)
Conner was born on January 3rd, 1940, in Joseph, Oregon
to Warren McKinney and Cathryn Jane (LaPoint) Center. She passed away July
10, 2007, following a stroke in May.
As a young girl, Cathy excelled at music and quickly learned to play the piano
and trumpet. She was a natural and very gifted musician. Her family moved to Walla Walla, Washington
in 1953; she graduated from Walla
Walla High School
in 1957, and married Gary Lee Conner the same year. Cathy attended Eastern State University
with her husband. They moved to Barstow,
CA and lived there from
1962-1968. They moved to Ellensburg,
WA in 1968 where they settled
down and raised their family. Cathy then moved to Shoreline in 2006 to be
closer to her children and grandchildren.
Cathy enjoyed being a mother, reading, yard sales, collecting old books,
magazines and records. Cathy always loved
movie magazines that came out in the 50s through the 70s. She loved cult
movies, music, and in her later years enjoyed soap operas. In
her last years her constant companion was her golden retriever,
Marley.
Her greatest joy was in her family, and she always
encouraged her all of her 7 children to follow their dreams that included
filmmaking, music, painting, writing and family.
Cathy was preceded in death
by her parents Warren and Cathryn, sister Jane Rohde and son Lance Gordon
Conner.
She was survived by her
husband Gary, and 7 children, Lee, Van, Suzy, Patrick, Ava, Joseph and Dylan,
and 12 grandchildren: Ulysses, Harrison, Violet, Cassidy, Madison, Jack, Sarah, Jorja , Zoe, Ruby,
Henry, and Julie.
A private memorial was
held at her daughter Ava's house to celebrate her life. It was a wonderful tribute to the wonderful life she lived and the wonderful person she was.
