This memorial website was created in the memory of our beloved Julia ELEANOR Scott Dye who was born in Langdon, North Dakota on 18th August 1917 and passed away on 19th January 2012, 94 years of age.
Aunt ELEANOR passed away peacefully in Seal Beach, CA, tenderly cared for by Myette and Rona and the Summer House family, devoted caregivers, along with the help of Season's Hospice, Orange and Burbank Counties.
Eleanor was loved by many. Preceeded in death by her brother, John Allen Scott, Sr. in 1996. Born to William A. Scott and Mabel Kinney Scott (Pettitt), both born in 1889. "Bill" was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, gaining US citizenship from his father, Samuel T. Scott, who became a citizen in Langdon, ND in 1904. Mabel was born in Seattle, WA, but her families roots were from Vermont and Minnesota. They were married and divorced after 5 years. Mabel was a traveling Cosmetic Sales woman and Eleanor and Allen were raised by their Aunt Ella and Uncle Roy in Billings, Montana. Mabel died in Seattle in 1954.
She married twice, the first to her true love, Richard Henry Maxam in New Jersey, 1942, and again to Robert (Bob) James Dye in 1954. Eleanor traveled the world, not having children of her own, she enjoyed teaching grade school in Okinawa, Japan and Turkey (1966-1967) and many years with the Burbank School District, teaching 4th graders, some of which still sent her Christmas cards! Eleanor lived in her own condo on Peyton Ave. #S, in Burbank for 30 years, ultimately enjoying her retirement years involved with "Eastern Star", becoming the top ranked Worthy Matron" at one time, socializing often with friends and also involved with her Church, Unity Church of the Valley with Rev. Jeri Linn. She attended her All Class Reunion with her brother Allen in 1983 in Baker, MT, again by herself in 2000. In 1985 went on a road trip in an RV with a man friend and doggie to Lake Mood,(dams). 1994 she went on a "Royal Cruise Line" trip with a group to London and Europe, with Stone Hedge, Scotland a highlight!
She leaves behind her loving niece Susan Monica Charles, nephews John Allen Scott, Jr., Christopher Taylor Scott, Al's widow Gloria, Debbie, Lyn, and 9 great nieces and nephews: Andrew Scott, Tyler Scott, Lindsay Charles, MatthewCharles, Molly Jean Charles, Ryan Scott, Hannah Scott, Stuart Scott and Ainsley Scott. Nephews from marriage Ed and David Thompson, whom she dearly loved from Richard's family, Also her beloved white cat, Tina!
Eleanor had many friends. The family would like to thank all of her friends and caregivers through the years, especially her neighbor, Karen Chmelar and friends Judy Sherman, Polly and Betty, also caregivers Peggy Lemay and Eleanor Mayrina.
Eleanor always had a great attitude about LIFE and always a possitive spirit. She will always be fondly remembered by the ones that loved her and her sense of humor will be missed. |
