In Memory Of Grahame Frederick Hazell
Grahame Hazell passed on 28 November 2007 at the Hospital La Tour, Meyrin. Present were his wife Jan, son Nick, daughter Claire and friends Ken Kvistad and Robin MacAlpine. He left this world peacefully amidst prayers and tears following a 12 year struggle with cancer, between reprieves, after 10 days of hospitalisation in the last stage of liver and intestinal cancer. Grahame continued until the end became inevitable, optimistically persevering and overcoming many challenges to his response to God's call on his life. The Christian counselling ministry ‘Lifeline’ was the vehicle Grahame established to further this call, organising numerous seminars on pressing topics, editing a monthly newsletter and counselling many on a one-to-one basis. His long-standing radio series in close collaboration with ‘Radio 74’ reached many in the region surrounding Geneva. In later years he produced a comprehensive Christian counselling manual and acted as supervisor for counsellors within the purview of the British Association of Christian Counsellors, which attained European recognition. Through these various ministries Grahame “reached out to those who hurt” in so many different ways, touching many lives and families with the very active love of God. Characteristically, until the last few weeks, he retained an air ticket to respond to yet another invitation to teach in Malaysia as part of the last season of his ministry as an international teaching conference speaker also including Finland, South Africa and the US. The memorial celebration of Grahame's faithfully active life was held at Crossroads Tuesday, 4 December 2007 led by the Reverend Ken Kvistad and followed by burial at Cessy, France. Flowers can be sent. Eventual donations will be made towards Cancer Research.
