Sunday May 8, 2005 - The Southern Illinoisan - Obit: Mabel Imogene Christy Isaacs

 

PLUMFIELD -- Imogene Christy Isaacs, 82, of Plumfield, passed away Thursday, May 5, 2005, in the St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon.  She was born Feb. 1, 1923, in Dog Prairie, a small community in Franklin County, to Walter and Elsie Amanda Moore Christy.  She was a member of Dog Prairie Methodist Church.  Imogene married Barney Isaacs Nov. 13, 1948, in Franklin County.  She was preceded in death by her husband in 1977; her parents;  two sisters, Helen and Anna Christy; three brothers, Edward, Robert and Kenneth Christy; and two children, Donna Jean Isaacs in 1959 and David Lynn Isaacs in 1975.  She is survived by one daughter, Julia Darlene Schroeder and husband John of Herrin; three sons, Wayne Isaacs and wife Cathy of Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada, Gary Isaacs and wife Carol of Plumfield and Ronald Isaacs of Marion; five grandchildren, Carla Faro Haines and husband Scott of Peoria, Casey Faro Payne and husband Eric of Normal, Kelsie and Michael Isaacs of Oklahoma City and David Isaacs of Carterville; six step grandchildren, Sgt. Michael Shaw, Bill and Daniel Shaw, Private Shane Shaw, Julia Schroeder Curry and husband Garrett of Columbia, S.C. and John Schroeder of Marion; three great-grandchildren, Jeremy and Nathan Haines and Austin Payne; two step great-grandchildren, McKenna Curry and Dana Shaw; one sister, Opal Gayer of West Frankfort; one brother and sister-in-law, James and Phyllis Christy of West Frankfort; and several nieces and nephews.  Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, May 9, 2005, in Parker-Reedy Funeral Home in West Frankfort, with the Rev. Charles Ashby officiating.  Burial will be in the Denning Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today in the Parker-Reedy Funeral Home.
