A Year Ago Today

It happened as if it were yesterday
seconds from the train
Only to hear my mother say that you are no longer with us in this life
My heart started pounding the tears rolled down my face.
My eyes burned with discomfort and my soul began to deteriate.
I prayed for an angel that would wipe this all away
but instead she comforted me with silence and knew he would be better this way.
I rushed to the hospital with a blurred vision in sight

My grandfather is laying there and his soul has crossed over to the other side.
I began to panic but then my hand was held by a pastor and greeted by heavens eyes.
Jack Hans a grandfather that was favored,loved, adored more than anything in this life was brutually taken away
I will remember you forever because you were the shining light in the room.
You were the shining star in the night
Even though it was a year ago from today
I miss you dearly and you will always be in my prayers.

Dearest Poppy,

I don't know where to begin, but I wish I could of said good-bye,

And now I know you are in Heaven next to God's side.

I know deep inside you're not suffering anymore, but just the thought of you not here makes me cry.

I weep because I know I am going to miss you,

And I will always keep the memories we shared so close to my heart.

I will never forget you because you are truely my hero and the best grandfather any granddaughter could ever wish for.

I am very lucky to have two most wonderful, caring, and loving grandparents to grow up with.

I am very fortunate and never took it for granted.

I want you to know that you mean so much to me and not one day would pass that you were not in my prayers.

I sometimes wish I could go upstairs one last time and sit next to you,

But I know I can't.

May God's angels watch over you in heaven,

And always know that I love you so much!

And, Poppy you were always my pride and joy!
