Jacqueline Dorothy Harris, was born August 11, 1949 to Dorothy and the late Horace Wesley Strickland in Newark NJ. She departed this life on Thursday October 30, 2008 after a long battle with Emphysema .
Jacqueline was educated at Newark Elementary Public Schools and graduated from Central High School in Newark, NJ. Her last job was at Ford Motors, Jacquie was christened at Queen of Angles Catholic Church. At a young age Jacquie began to sing and performed at the London fair on Avon Ave in Newark, NJ and recorded a demo record called It’s Over. She also loved to go bowling,horseback riding, and Ice Skating, she also had a very high self esteem about herself. Her favorite words were “I know I’m fine.” Jacquie would spend hours reading and can give you the family history by memory. Jacquie was the life at any family event. Jackie loved to have family gatherings with her children and grandchildren and loved to cook.
Jacqueline brother’s Gary Strickland and Rahman Strickland preceded her in death. She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband James E. Harris, daughter Krystal K. Harris-Aiken two sons Hassan Sharif and Tyrick Harris. Her mother Dorothy Johnson of Dallas,Texas, mother in law Mildred Brown and sister in-law Odessa Knight. Four grandchildren Koran Sharif, Aljiernon Aiken, Hassan Sharif and Njari Sharif. One son in law George Aiken and one daughter in law Kim Sharif. Two brothers Bruce Strickland and Charles Strickland of Dallas, Texas. Two sisters Linda Gregory of Cedar Hill, Texas and Sharon Strickland of Irvington, NJ. Two step-brothers Billy Johnson and Eric Fields, one step sister Lee-Ester Johnson from Newark, NJ and one life-time best friend Valerie Banks, a good friend Eunice (Timy) Nelson.
