I love you Daddy

We thought of you with love today,
But that is nothing new.
We thought about you yesterday.
And days before that too.
We think of you in silence.
We often speak your name.
Now all we have is memories.
And your picture in a frame.
Your memory is our keepsake.
With which we’ll never part.
God has you in his keeping.
We have you in our heart.

I found this poem and it reminded me of my daddy. I can clearly remember the day that I lost my daddy, and how my world changed that day.  I was in foster care, with a loving family, and getting ready to go and have my visitation with Mom and  Dad, when i was told  that he had  passed and went on to be with  Jesus.  The only way that I can describe  my feelings at that moment was that I was completely lost, wondering how and when I could ever pick up the pieces of my glass house, that had just been shattered.

Now, it is  18 years later, and as  I remember that moment, I realize that I  had to come through that valley to become the  person I am today.  I have had to walk through many valleys, but I have also climbed some mountains, and I can finally say

Daddy,

Thank you for all that you taught in the few short years that I was blessed enough to walk with you. I feel blessed that God chose you to be my dad, because the values that you instilled in me, did take root, and now are beginning to manifest themselves every day, I thank you for all the times that you worked hard to provide a meal  for  us or a  pair of shoes.  I can remember the time that you sold your favorite blue Dodge  to  have food on the table because your check was late.  I just want you to know how much I love you.

Your little girl.
