This memorial website was created in the memory of our beloved Kevin Taylor who was born in Denver, Colorado on 11th January 1961 and passed away on 15th May 2009, in Waterloo, Iowa at 48 years of age.

Kevin grew up in Denver, Colorado where he enjoyed a 27 year career as a chef and caterer.  He was twice honored by the Denver Business Journal for his culinary expertise.  Kevin was introduced to his wife, Penny by his mother, Sue and later gave a memorable and romantic proposal; on bended knee at the front desk of an Aurora Municipal Court office where Penny and Sue worked.  The couple celebrated 13 years of marriage on March 15th of this year.  They raised two beautiful, spirited children:  Ian Smith of Denver, CO and Joslynne Taylor of Oelwein, IA.  They were also blessed with a grandson, Drake.  Kevin was a skilled poker player who played in several poker clubs around Denver with his stepdad, George Cochran.  He also placed fourth in a poker tournament in Las Vegas, earning the title of Professional Poker Player.  Kevin was a fan of the Denver Broncos and proudly flew his Bronco's flag, even after transplanting in Iowa.  Kevin and Penny spent a few years traveling the country for New Star Discovery with Joslynne riding along, logging many miles cross country twice a year with trailer and trophies in tow.  Many family memories were formed on these trips from Great Falls,  MT to San Francisco, CA down to San Antonio, TX and the annual trek to Chicago, IL.  Kevin was a devoted family man, cherished husband and father, beloved son and brother and a treasured friend to many.  A lifelong animal lover, he was adored by his chihuahua, Twinkle.  He spent the last weeks of his life in the care of the Cedar Valley Hospice Home, where Twinkle gave birth to four puppies in the corner of his room two weeks before his passing.
