I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. – Jesus Christ, John 14:6 Poem of Life Life is but a stopping place,A pause in what's to be,A resting place along the road,to sweet eternity. We all have different journeys,Different paths along the way,We all were meant to learn some things, but never meant to stay...Our destination is a place,Far greater than we know. For some the journey's quicker,For some the journey's slow. And when the journey finally ends,We'll claim a great reward,And find an everlasting peace,Together with the Lord.Laurie Hayes (née Travis) passed away peacefully after a short, courageous battle with cancer on Thursday, August 5th, 2010 at her home.A Mother, Daughter, Sister,Aunt, Goddess and Friend. Laurie Hayes is survived by her beloved husband David Hayes. Her Mother Elizabeth Steinhauser, Her Sister Lucinda Stienhauser, and her brother Jamie Travis. Her Children Amanda O'Donnell, Andrew Bellucci, Benjamin Bellucci, Michaela Hayes and Jeremy Hayes. Her Children-in-Law Kevin O'Donnell, Kimberly Bellucci, and Samantha Bellucci. Her Grandchildren Seth O'Donnell, Isabella Bellucci, Taylor Bellucci and Aidan Bellucci. She loved her family so much. Laurie Hayes, a registered Nurse at Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca, NY touched lives for years to come. Laurie was always working towards higher education and continued to do so until her passing. She was diagnosed with Cholangiocarcinoma on March 3rd 2010 and knew it was a battle she wouldn't win, and through it all she showed each one of us the courage, strength and desire to live. Laurie Hayes loved to be in her element, the outdoors. She loved to camp, garden and read with the sun in her face and the wind in her hair. We know that she is no longer in pain and that she continues to feel the sun in her face, the wind in her hair and the dirt under her fingers. Mom you will be truly missed for your friendship, direction, encouragement and spirit. We always said no matter how far we traveled or the places we visited, when we were coming to see you...we always knew we were HOME. We Love you Big Much Mom and know that we will meet again. Rest In Peace... |

I have laughed, I have cried. I have laughed at the times we've had as friends. I have cried because I've lost my friend. I remember all the fun times we had shopping and hanging out. I remember seeing the joy you had when you had your kids. I remember all the late nights we worked at The Back Porch Resturant, when we were so tired we were giddy. I remember taking you to pick up our checks, driving that Vega. You were telling me how good I was doing, all the while with your white knuckles, while... » read more

I loved working next to you for five years and was so excited when you came back to work on the unit. Our backgrounds and beliefs are so similiar; we had so many deep, heart to heart talks; you helped me through a hard time in my life; i love you so much and i miss you already...p.s. i think of you everytime i look at the St. Teresa painting you got for me...

Even as a little gay boy at #37 School in Rochester, I had the most monumental crush on Laurie that has lasted until this day. I remember Laurie as the smarted kid in school, adorable beyond words, and a good good good friend to me in our quest to grow up as we went to West High (and hung out with Eric Young!), and had water balloon fights, and student government campaign meetings, and always had a ball. You will never be forgotten, Laurie. Rest assured. DL David@LeeVaillancourt.com

The thought of this week has brought even more tears. The family and I were flying from Guam to be by your side, this same time a year ago. We then went to your oncology appointment only to hear the words that scream through me like nails on a chalkboard. Cholangiocarcinoma has been a word that eats my Brain, a disease that melted my heart and a word that has given me the desire to live out your name, morals, beliefs and smile. So much has changed, more than I ever thought would. I want to call...

Mom,
It has been 2 weeks since I got the call. I miss you like crazy. I often find myself wanting to pick up the phone and call you and tell you about all that I am doing and what Kim and the boys are up to. I really feel as though a piece of me died with you. I am coming HOME soon to place you where you wanted to be. I often look at your picture and can't believe that hugging you out in the middle of yard and holding onto you so tight was going to be the last time I hug you or the conversatio...
