Does the number 84 mean anything to you? It does to me. It's the number of years that my grandmother was able to bless this earth with her presence.

It doesn't matter who you talk to, when someone mentions her name the words caring, generous, independent, and strong always seem to surface. She was a rock to everyone that knew and loved her.

If you ever had the opportunity to sit with her at her dinner table, you know that she was an exceptional cook. She even made peanut butter and jelly sandwiches taste amazing. Her kitchen was the center of activity in her house, and there were many tears of joy and sorrow shared with family and friends at her table throughout the years. Most of all, I will miss the words of wisdom she would share over a heaping plate of blueberry pancakes.

Louise lived a rich life. After attending college in Memphis, Tenn., she moved to Pascagoula, Miss. and later Birmingham, AL to raise her family. She served with the University of Alabama Birmingham Auxiliary Volunteers for 14 years and was a member of the Mountain Top Community Church.

In lieu of flowers, our family requests that donations be sent in her memory to the Mountain Top Community Church Building Fund, 1001 Vestavia Parkway, Vestavia Hills, AL, 35216.
