Maurita Jeanette Eberhart Yarbrough passed away three days before her 80th birthday. She lived nearly 80 rich and loving years. She was born in Loveland, Colorado on August 2, 1930 as the 8th of 10 boisterous children.
At 18, she joined her sister, Joan, in California where she met her future husband, Jim Yarbrough. Because of her husband’s career in the Navy, they were able to travel widely throughout the world. She was a devoted and nurturing mother to four children whom she taught to be loyal, determined, and loving. She was beloved by all who knew her. She studied Shakespeare and French literature in graduate school and received both her B.A. and M.A. degrees from Murfreesboro State University.
She was an avid reader and lover of travel, politics, art, ballet, plays, movies and music.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Margaret Mann Eberhart and Morace Mayo Eberhart, her brothers, Donald and Charles Eberhart, and her sisters, Le Vonne Eberhart, Marjorie Hoffman, Dorothy Keeler, and Margaret Nickel.
In the greater Nashville area, Jean is survived by her devoted husband of nearly 60 years, James D. Yarbrough; her beloved children Karen, Cathy, Jon (wife Kathy), and Michael (wife Sheila); her treasured grandchildren Elizabeth Nunnally( husband Josh), Hunter Yarbrough (wife Sarah), Jon Paul, Elizabeth, Amelia and other Yarbrough family members as well as an expected great grandson Micha Nunnally.
Colorado and California family include siblings, Joan Morgan (husband Bob), Leo Eberhart (wife Shirley), Glenn Eberhart(wife Adele), sister in law, Kay Eberhart and many nieces & nephews. A celebration of her life will be held at St. Mark's Episcapal Church at 4 P.M. on August 7th. (Visitation from 2 P.M. - 4 P.M. same day.)
Instead of flowers, Jean would have liked donations to be given to Center for Living & Learning, Lieper's Fork, Franklin, TN.
