"All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be" - Psalm 139 v 16

"A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials, heavy and sudden, fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine, desert us when troubles thicken around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts."  (Washington Irving)

Our mother passed away so peacefully, quietly and in God's perfect timing, August 18th at 1:38 a.m., after a short illness.  She survived 19 years after the passing of her beloved Jack; her one and only true love.  They were married for almost 50 years.  Her entire life is an example of love; patterned after the way of Christ Jesus and His teachings.  She was gentle, loving, soft-spoken, straight-forward and down to earth.  Her hugs could wipe away all tears.  She is our beloved Mother and we will remember her always and memorilize her life in this website and in our hearts.  She will be missed.

"The mother is everything - she is our consolation in sorrow, our hope in misery, and our strength in weakness. She is the source of love, mercy, sympathy, and forgiveness. He who loses his mother loses a pure soul who blesses and guards him constantly." -- Kahlil Gibran

Our mother was the best cook in the entire world!!  She poured her heart into her cooking, and made every meal special. Tender porkchops, baked tomatoes, fried chicken, a mean roast with all the trimmings, biscuits and gravy, ham hock, beans and cornbread and heavenly, mouth-watering desserts, to name a few.   She consistently kept an orderly, clean home, full of the blessings of God and His word.  Her home was a place of familiar refuge; long remembered after all these years.  She was a unique and outspoken woman; brought up by Christian parents.  Her father, John Samuel (Pink) Staton, was at one time a sheriff and farmer; a hard working, gentle giant who loved his family.  Her mother, Cindy, was so full of the love of God that it spilled over to everyone she met.  She would have people from her church to her home for Sunday dinners and not just every now and then, but every Sunday.  She usually had a side of pinto beans and cornbread on hand with each meal.  She never met a stranger.  Our mother took the best attributes of her parents and applied them to her daily life.  She will be missed.

"My mother had a slender, small body, but a large heart - a heart so large that everybody's joys found welcome in it, and hospitable accommodation." -- Mark Twain

Her love will live on in our hearts and minds - in all we do.  "Thank you, God, for our mother.  She is surely happy with you now, Lord, with all her friends and family, sisters and brothers in Christ; rejoicing for eternity."  She will be missed.
