Science fiction author Ray Bradbury contributed such iconic classics of science fiction literature as Fahrenheit 451 (1953), The Martian Chronicles (1950), The Illustrated Man (1951), Dandelion Wine (1957), I Sing the Body Electric (1951), and Something Wicked This Way Comes (1962). His work has been adapted to film as well as to television, the latter in such venues as "Twilight Zone", "Night Gallery", and, of course, "The Ray Bradbury Theater."

When my friends would imagine meeting their teen idol, I would imagine meeting Ray Bradbury. If I could have, I would have told him how his stories allowed me to see a truth I knew was there but could not see on my own. As an adolescent his stories made me feel an exquisite poignancy which matched my inner state, a yearning I could not express on my own. I feel a keen sense of loss for all he meant to me personally as well as to the larger world.
