In Memory Of Rosemary (Rose) Teresa Kidd (née Tordeur, Dupuis)

Rosemary Rose Kidd

ESCANABA , Rosemary Rose Teresa Tordeur Dupuis Kidd, was born into heaven on Friday, July 28, 2006, at her home of 720 S. 15th St., Escanaba. Rosemary was born on Jan. 16, 1920, in Escanaba.

Known to everyone as Rose, she carried her cross for the final time due to chronic kidney failure since 2004, which was shortly after the passing of her husband Robert.

Rose's strong will, strength, and courage allowed her to place her love, soul, heart, and trust in Brother Jesus and not opt for dialysis. With renal failure, Rose was provided care by her daughter and son-in-law, Jan Kidd-Dahn and John Dahn; granddaughter, Jessica Dahn Page; and close neighbor and certified caregiver, Kayla Bink; and the OSF Hospice Team.

Rose married Fred Samuelson in 1941 in Racine, Wis. He preceded her in death in 1942.

Rose Tordeur then married Robert Kidd on Nov. 25, 1944, at St. Patrick's Church in Escanaba. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary among family in November 1994 at the Ranch restaurant in Escanaba. Robert passed away in 2004, just missing their 60th anniversary.

Rose had strong Roman Catholic beliefs and in the rosary of Our Mother the Virgin Mary. She liked camping, going for leisure drives, eating at the Hong Kong Buffet, and the beauty of red roses and other flowers.

In recent years, a few of her greatest enjoyments were being the oldest to take a dog sled ride, receiving her grandfather clock, taking a ride in a Corvette, and watching the Kruisin Klassics parade and talking about demonstrating her queen wave. Rose has always had a passion for dancing.

Rose had a very fond love for cats. She enjoyed family gatherings and receiving company at her home. She was a woman of style and strong pride. She was well-liked by those who had the chance to meet her, often noted for a spunky, humorous, and independent personality. But she was outspoken with a general seriousness and at times had a spitfire nature that sometimes surpassed the color of her red hair.

Whatever suited her at a given time, that was what Rose did or said. If you wanted the truth, or had a question, or simply needed some information, Rose was the one that people went to. She had a special love and soft spot in her heart for family in dire need.

Rose was very proud of the five-generation family consisting of herself; daughter, Gloria Wilder; granddaughter, Babette St. Cyr; great-granddaughter, Tausha St. Cyr; and great-great-granddaughter, Jasmyn Marie St. Cyr, born on Nov. 10, 2005. Rose was finally able to meet her great-great-granddaughter and have a group photo of the “Kidd five†taken during a family gathering at her home Sunday, July 23, 2006, just days before her passing.

Rose's life's journey on earth is now over. She has earned her long and well deserved eternal rest in heaven.

Rose is survived by her children, Judith (John) Lippens, Gloria Wilder, David (Donna) Kidd, Dale (Sandra) Kidd, Gary (Linda) Kidd, Jan (John) Dahn, Shelayne (James) Juneau; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; very special friends; sisters, Una (Morin) Green, and Sophia Toots (Morin) Cousineau; and her Maine Coon kitty cat, Emma.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents, Adolph and Amanda (DeIsle) Dupuis, and Joseph Tordeur; husband, Robert E. Kidd; first husband, Fred Samuelson; grandchildren, Lisa Marie Kidd and Damon Patrick Dart; brother, Henry Fortier; grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and also many of her loving cat and dog pets throughout the years.

Visitation will be on Saturday, Aug. 5 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Escanaba.

The funeral service celebrating the life of Rosemary will follow at 5 p.m. at the funeral home chapel with Rev. Emmett Norden officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery.
