In Memory Of Shannon Marie Gallagher (née Sandvig)
Survived By:

Shannon M. (nee: Sandvig) Gallagher, 40, found peace Thursday, May 21, 2009, after a nine-year struggle with breast cancer. Beloved wife and best friend of Thomas. Precious daughter of Barbara (Tom) Borgiet and Richard Sandvig. Loving granddaughter of Conrad and Margaret Exner. Cherished daughter-in-law of Robert and Carmen Gallagher. Also loved and missed by many relatives and friends; and her faithful companion, Guinness. Preceded in death by her Godson, Justin Exner.

Shannon was born in Racine Wisconsin on January 10, 1969 to Barbara and Richard Sandvig. She graduated from J.I. Case High School in 1987 and moved on to attend the University of Wiscconsin Milwauke where she earned a degree in Art History. She also met her husband, Tom, there. And thus a romance bloomed. During college Shannon work at the Associated Bank and later moved into a position at The Milwaukee Art Museum where she worked as long as she could. Tom proposed to Shannon beneath the Eiffel Tower in France and they were married in a lovely ceremony at Bay Shore Lutheran Church on October 9, 1999. During their life together, Tom and Shannon did a lot of traveling abroad. Their family also grew with the adoption of Guinness, who became Shannon’s faithful companion.

Shannon faced her first battle with cancer in 2000, and continued the fight for nine years. She faced it with strength and determination and with a positive attitude and spirit that amazed all who knew her. We are all blessed for having known and loved Shannon.

Loving and kind,

in all her ways,

upright and just,

to the end of her days;

sincere and true,

in her heart and mind,

a beautiful memory,

left behind.

She had a nature

You could not help loving,

a heart that was

purer than gold;

and to those who knew her

and loved her,

her memory

will never grow old.

God saw her getting tired,

A cure not meant to be,

So He wrapped His arms around her,

And whispered "Come with me".
